Along the southern Pacific coast of Mexico, in between Manzanillo and Zihuatanejo, there is a section of road (200) that is by far the best road I have ever driven on. It demands your full concentration and attention at all times as you lean into turn after turn, up steep cliffs that over look the ocean below and down the other side, winding and weaving through trees and jagged rock faces. Speed control is essential, constantly finding a balance between up hill acceleration and breaking into turns, depending on how tight they are, always shifting the weight of the bike from one side to the next. Once you get into the rhythm it becomes a dance, as your eyes look ahead your body reacts and the bike follows, traveling along the white and yellow lines of the road. The excitement increase when the other vehicles come into sight. Many times as you come around a tight turn there will be a large truck flying down the hill and you have to stay focused and not break your line of sight. Each corner brings with it a new surprise; an incredible view of the ocean and beach that is so tempting to look at, a tiny pick up truck with cows in the back, moving slower than expected. There might be a broken down bus changing a tire, taking up most of the lane.
The road was narrow, but every so often there would be a place to pull off and enjoy the incredible views of the ocean below. I will never forget riding on that road. I know there will be many more to come, but for now Mexico holds the top stop in epic roads!
